Love the Triad Orthodics and Pedi-Rock #GoProFoot

So I’m back for yet another review of the great products that I received in my GoVoxBox from Influenster (free for testing purposes). This time I would like to review the 2 products that I received from ProFoot, the Triad Orthodic Inserts and the Pedi-Rock.

I am SO happy that they sent these to me! I have a family history of knee problems, and recently I have been having some really painful foot problems as well. I absolutely love these inserts. I put them into my shoes and use those shoes every day to work out and walk my dog. When I go to work I am on my feet all day long. These inserts have really made a huge difference. I don’t come home with shooting knee pain or throbbing feet, I am genuinely surprised. I just wish that these inserts could be switched out and worn in different shoes…because I have way too many shoes for my own good. That would be the only thing that I would change about them. They are comfortable and easy to put into your shoes. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who could use a little extra support :).

The Pedi-Rock is really amazing too! It is shaped like an egg and the biggest foot stone-like scrubber that I have ever used. It is gentle, yet very effective. I just scrub my feet with it and they feel so silky soft! I use the Pedi-Rock like 3 times per week and I am just in love with it 🙂

Thanks Influenster and ProFoot! #GoVoxBox #GoProFoot

Playtex Sport Fresh Balance

So I have just been LOVING my #GoVoxBox that I received. It’s a big box of goodies that @Influenster sent to me filled with products (*free*) that are for testing purposes. One of the items I received was a big box of Playtex Sport Fresh Balance Tampons.

Image

They are so great! Thanks Platex Sport and Influenster! @PlatexSportandGentleGlide tampons are really great for girls who live an active lifestyle. They are extremely easy to use, and best of all…they are comfortable! They have a light scent that is not too overwhelming, which is perfect. What I like best of all is…they last all day! They provide excellent coverage when you need it most. I would definitely recommend these tampons to every girl who is looking for full coverage (even when doing full workouts!) when mother nature comes calling.

More reviews to come soon! Hope you all are having a *great* day!

Hey guys! So last month I wrote a post about joining Influenster.com. Well, I sat on the site for quite some time and reviewed a bunch of products I’ve used and answered some surveys. Then a couple of weeks ago I learned that I had been approved to receive the GoVoxBox! I was so excited! (and still am :). Well after checking my mailbox obsessively for a week or so, I received my package today…and it’s awesome! Influenster sent me so many *full-sized* and FREE products to test out. All I have to do in return is test and review the products!

Here is all of my new free stuff:

Image

Pretty sweet! So I received a big container of bath salts from Aqua Spa. They are Lavender & Chamomile scented.

Image

Then, from The Vitamin Shoppe, I received Fit & Full protein mix and a Jax shaker bottle. I’m excited to try them both out! 🙂

Image

Then, I received a box of Playtex Sport: Fresh Balance tampons. I always buy sport tampons, so these will be perfect.

Image

Next in my box of goodies was a bag of Blue Diamond Blueberry Almonds. I love blueberry, and I love almonds…but I’m not sure how they will taste together. I’m excited to find out!

Image

Then, I received a coupon for Muller Quaker Greek Yogurt. I can’t wait to go to the store and pick out a new flavor!

Finally, from Pro-Foot, I received 2 really awesome products: Orthodic Inserts and a Pedi-Rock.

The Triad Orthodic Inserts fit directly into your shoes to relieve knee, leg, and back pain. I have horrible knees, so I’m really excited to see how these help!

The Pedi-Rock is HUGE and super soft. I’ve never used a foot pumice type thing that is soft. I’m going to try it out in the bath tonight!

Intro To: Highlighting & Contouring!

So I guess I’ve always been doing a little bit of highlighting and contouring as part of my makeup routine for years. However, I’ve spent countless hours over the last month or so researching products, methods, watching videos, and reading articles on how to perfect this technique. Of course I’m not expert, not even close. But I’m definitely getting better, and I love experimenting with new products & methods!

What is it?

Highlighting and contouring is a method of applying make-up that is used constantly by professional makeup artists and celebrities. “Highlighting” is the use of creams/liquids/and powders that brighten and illuminate the skin in order to draw attention to certain areas (typically on the face). “Contouring” is the use of creams/liquids/powders to darken the skin in order to create ‘shadows’ on the face. Using the HAC (highlight and contour) method can help to create a desired makeup look, like creating the illusion of a thinner face, smaller nose, higher cheekbones, etc…

How/Where to Use HAC?

There are a variety of methods and products to use for HAC makeup. I’m going to create a series of blog posts to display my personal method & products, the use of HAC for specific issues & makeup desires, etc…

Let me know what you think 🙂

Basic Application Ideas

In general, the most common method of HAC includes:

Highlight: a “triangle” shape in the middle of forehead, a line down the center of your nose, your upper lip, the space on your cheeks in between your cheek “hollows” and your jawline, a “pie piece” shaped area underneath your eyes and down the sides of your nose, small lines directly above and directly below the ends of your eyebrows, and your collar bones.

Contour: all around the sides of your face and the top of your forehead, the hollows of your cheeks, your jawline, the sides of your nose, down your entire neck, the ‘v’ shape in between your collar bone and neck, and the curved outline of your breasts.

Then add blush to the apples of your cheeks and your cheek bones. Then fill in your brows. Then apply eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara as desired. Often, a loose translucent powder is used as a last step to ‘set’ your makeup.

Please see my future posts for details on products, methods, and how to approach certain problem areas. 🙂

Influester!

So last week I signed up for the really great site, Influenster.com. It’s basically a place where you can go to see reviews of all kinds of products from a wide range of categories. You can earn points and badges by taking some surveys, by reviewing products, and by sharing the site and the reviews with other people through social media. Eventually, when you build up points, you may be eligible for the illustrious “Vox Box”, which is a box full of goodies (relating to the preferences you relayed on Influenster) that is sent to your home for you to use and review. I’m so excited to get started! I hope I get a Vox Box soon :). I’m still just starting out, just trying to feel out how the site works and what I need to do to improve my score.

Pretty cool, huh? Let me know if you want to join, message me your email and I can refer you!

Have a wonderful night 🙂

Nike Training Club

So, I will be the first to admit that I am absolutely horrible at working out consistently. I’ll do a really hard workout one day, and then be “too sore” the next day to work out so I’ll take a day off…which leads to like a month off. Repeat cycle. See I used to swim and row competitively and I was in amazing shape. But that was back when I was on a team…and I had motivation to be moving every single day. Now that I’m no longer on any sort of team, I find it to be near impossible to motivate myself to work out regularly.

I’ve tried many gyms and work out regimens, the latest being Jillian Michael’s DVD bundle that my old roommate brought home. We never lasted more than a week before fizzling out…and repeating week 1 again the next month. I really want to get back into shape, and I really want to be healthy and active. So this is  my new thing…and I’m tightly crossing my fingers that it isn’t just a “phase” and one of my unsuccessful exercise attempts.

I’ve downloaded the NTC (Nike Training Club) and the Nike+ Move apps on my iPhone. Nike+ Move is an app that utilizes the new and improved accelerometer technology in the iPhone 5s to track your movement throughout the day. However, instead of tracking steps or calories burned, Nike has developed their own set of criteria. They base the NikeFuel points awarded to each person based on the movement that would be given to any person as they complete an activity (instead of basing it off weight, height, etc…). I don’t know how I feel about this particular app yet because I feel like I have to take my phone with me *everywhere* I go, even if I’m just moving to a different room in the house. I’m not sure how accurate the fuel points awarded are either. My biggest complaint is that the app only tracks your daily movement in detail, once the day is over you can no longer see your results (its on to the next day), so you have nothing to really compare your day to.

On the other hand, I am really like the other app that I downloaded, Nike Training Club. This app gives you a ton of workouts to complete. You can choose whether you need a beginner, intermediate, or advanced workout (I obviously chose beginner haha). You can then choose what your aim is (to lose weight, to get toned, to gain muscle, etc…) and the workouts will be geared towards that goal. You can then choose to do individual workouts or start a “program”. A program consists of a 4 week plan with 3 or more different workouts per week planned out for you.

All you have to do is download the particular workout and click “start”. The time will start ticking away and the Nike coach will guide you through the workout. Each exercise and movement is displayed on the screen. You can look at pictures of how to do the movement, or even watch a video of a professional performing the action.

I chose to do the “Get Toned” Beginner workout program. Here is my progress so far:

Monday 1/20

I downloaded and completed the “Body Flexor” workout which was 30 minutes long and consisted of strength building exercises. In the end, I was pretty tired but I felt great!

Tuesday 1/21

The app suggested that I go on a “3 mile Steady Run”. So I also downloaded the Nike+ Running app to help me track my distance, pace, etc… I really like this app because it gives you motivation, tracks your movement, and at the end of your walk/run gives you a GPS map of exactly where you went.

Since I haven’t worked out in so long, there was no way that I could’ve ran 3 miles. To be honest, I couldn’t even make it a mile. So I decided to compromise and build my way up and walk my 4 year old black lab.

I walked at a steady pace for 3.18 miles. It took forever (1 hour and 9 minutes) because I was out of shape AND I had to constantly stop to pull my dog away from the millions of stops he made to smell and mark his territory. But after I was done I still felt tired and accomplished.

Wednesday 1/22

This was a “rest” day according to the app., so I did not exercise…which was a blessing in disguise because I was incredibly sore from the previous 2 days of working out.

Thursday 1/23 (Today)

I downloaded and completed the “Tighten Up” workout which was 45 minutes and consisted of strength building and a little cardio. It killed me. Haha! But I felt so good after I was done.

So that is 3 days down. My ultimate goal (at least for now) is to complete the entire 4 week workout program and move on to another one. I read somewhere that if you do something everyday for 21 days straight it  becomes a habit. I don’t want to absolutely dread working out anymore, I want to look forward to it! So we will see what happens :).

USING: Seche Base and Seche Vite Top Coat

Every time I paint my nails, the color chips off within a few days. I get so frustrated because the process is so time consuming and I feel like I have to do it frequently. You need to get your nails ready, apply a base coat, color, and top coat, and then give it ample time to dry. My nails will smudge or bubble if I use them to do *anything* within a few hours of painting them. So annoying!

Image

So a couple of days ago I went to Beauty Brands in search of a new base and top coat. I was hoping to solve my problem once and for all. I purchased both a base coat, and a top coat.. The base coat I purchased for $6.95 was “Seche Base: Ridge Filling Base Coat”. It looks white and milky in the bottle. Luckily, it did not go on too thick like I thought it might. It paints on thin, and dries quickly. The appearance on the nail is really pretty, sort of like a shiny coat with a little glimmer.

I then painted my nails with two coats (not too thick) of color.

Then after I let the color dry for 5-10 minutes, I applied the top coat I purchased for $9.98, “Seche Vite: Dry Fast Top Coat”. I was instantly in love. The top coat went on easily and dried *extremely fast*. Once it was dry, I noticed that the finish of my nails was gorgeous. They were more shiny than they have ever been, more smooth and perfect looking than when I get them done professionally. Normally, I would never pay this much money for a top coat. But I heard so many raving reviews about Seche Vite that I had to try it out. It doesn’t have the greatest smell, but that is because of the ingredients. The top coat contains an agent that helps dry the actual coat, and all layers underneath within a minute.

Image

I let it sit for 10 minutes for good measure. Which is amazing considering that any other top coat (or color alone) that I have tried requires at least an hour of dry time or it will smudge.  Two days later and my nails are still extremely shiny, beautiful, and no chips in sight yet. We will see how long it lasts, but for now…I’m loving it!

The Seche Base coat was pretty cool, I like the ease and the finish. But I *love* the Seche Vite top coat, and I’m thinking that it’s going to be my go-to item for manicures/pedicures from now on :).

I highly recommend that you try it out!

Watching: Girls

Image

Okay, if you haven’t seen the HBO series “Girls”, pleaaaase climb out from under your rock and watch it. It has absolutely hilarious. I decided to binge watch a few episodes today and it was a wonderful decision. I watched Episodes 1-6 in season 1. They are all right around 30 minutes long.

The show revolves around the group of girlfriends in their early to mid 20’s who are finding themselves smack dab in the middle of New York City. I would say that there are four main characters. There is Shoshanna who is the youngest of the group and is finishing up school. She is a sweet and awkward virgin who tries to live vicariously through the other girls. She is just so innocent and funny that you immediately love her.

There is Shoshanna’s cousin, Jessa, who has just returned from England and loves to party. She has quite the personality, she is a fun-loving, free spirited, smart ass girl. She loves sex, drugs, and being generally unpredictable.

Then there is Marnie, who is hands-down the most mature of the entire group. She has graduated college, found a job, is making friends and is always the one controlling the situation. However she always has to be in control, which often bugs the other characters. This passive-aggressive behavior leads to a break up with her smothering but sweet boyfriend, Charlie, mid way through season 1.

Last but most definitely not least, there is Hannah. Hannah is awkward, sarcastic, lovable, and downright hilarious. She goes through ups and downs with jobs and boys and always has a comment about something. Her parents cut her off financially right at the beginning of the series and she is forced to find a way to support herself. She’s addicted to Adam, a boy who (so far) only wants to see her for kinky sex and awkward talks.

I honestly think people can learn a lot by watching this show. I mean even though it is a smart ass, sarcastic comedy, I can see a little bit of myself in each and every one of these girls. I can relate to a ton of the situations that they get themselves into with jobs, boys, and life in general. I’m learning about them, laughing, and in some weird way I’m learning about myself too.

I can’t wait to watch more of this show. I absolutely love it. In fact, I’ll probably finish it and watch it all over again.

Watching: The Bachelor – Episode 2

Image

So The Bachelor was on again tonight for the 2nd episode of the Juan Pablo season. He is just so damn gorgeous. His body, his face, his accent, his sense of humor, I could go on and on :).

Tonight was a decently interesting show, proving that the entire season is going to be full of drama…just as I had expected.

Juan Pablo chose Claire for his first one-on-one date. They went to a “snow resort” in CA which was created just for them. They went sledding, played in the snow and danced to a private concert. Juan gave her the rose at the end, so she was safe from elimination this week. I like Clair so far, she seems to be really sweet and genuine. But things can change!

He chose to take Kat out on his second one-on-one date next. He brought her on a private jet, which flew them to Salt Lake City, UT to participate in the Electric Run. Afterwards, Juan Pablo and Kat were invited on stage where they danced and had fun. Juan gave her the rose at the end of the date so she was safe from elimination this week. Kat seems to be okay, maybe not a top runner in my eyes…yet, but I can’t cut her out at this point.

The group date involved far too many girls for me to name (12 or 13 of them). But Juan Pablo took the girls to a photo shoot for the Best Friends Pet Society charity. They posed in crazy costumes and some of them even posed nude in order to promote the adoption of millions of homeless pets across the country. Lucy was (as usual) her true hippy self and walked around the set and even the neighborhood completely naked.

Then the girls and Juan went to dinner and played by and in the pool. He had a few opportunities to sit down with girls personally. At least until Victoria got hammered and started ranting. First she was going on and on about how she was going to straddle Juan Pablo and that he was all hers. Then she saw him with another girl and proceeded to cry hysterically and lock herself in the bathroom. A couple of girl and Juan tried to talk her down, but she was too drunk and kept screaming about going home. The next morning she apologized to Juan for the incident. He said he understood…but he still sent her home right there, before the rose ceremony. I mean…come on, he is looking for someone to be a mother figure for his daughter, he doesn’t need to marry a girl who is going to get hammered all the time and throw uncontrollable tantrums in front of his daughter.

Then came the cocktail party before the eliminations. Everything seemed to go smooth. The only girl that stuck out to me in a negative way was Amy…who was pretending like she was a reporter while in front of the camera with Juan. She is currently a local news reporter and this was an obvious statement to me that she was only on the show for fame and to help further her career.

So the rose ceremony came. He originally had to eliminate three of the girls, but since Victoria was sent home for her drunken emotional rollercoaster, he only had two left to boot. In the end, he sent home Chantel (who we really never got to know anyway), and Amy, the reporter looking for fame (called it!). I would say that those were the right choices to make…according to ME, duh. 🙂

The Secret to Soft Feet

Soooo I was doing some research yesterday on how to get velvety soft feet. I do a lot of walking, plus its winter-time, so my feet are so dry! I hate it :(. Finally I came across a number of home-remedies for this problem…and combined them all together. It worked like MAGIC for me!! Here is how to get your feet feeling better than ever:

Step 1.) Fill a small tub (bucket, large bowl, whatever works) with warm water. You want enough room in the tub for both feet to sit flat and fit comfortably, and enough warm water to go at least up to your ankles.

Image

Step 2.) Add approximately 1 cup of apple cider vinegar to the tub of water and stir it up a bit.

Image

Step 3.) Place your feet in the tub filled with water and apple cider vinegar. Sit back, relax, and let your feet soak for at least 30 minutes.

Step 4.) Start mixing your scrub into a small bowl. Start with 1 cup of brown sugar.

Image

Step 5.) Add Olive Oil and Honey. I used approximately 2 tablespoons of each, but you can add more if you’d like.

Image  +  Image

Step 6.) Add approximately 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda.

Image

Step 7.) Place the bowl full of your ingredients in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. You want to warm the mixture up a bit, but put it in too long and it’ll bubble up and harden.

Step 8.) Remove mixture from the microwave, then stir until it is well mixed.

Step 9.) Return your feet to your tub full of warm water and apple cider vinegar. Pull one foot out at a time and scrub it well with your new mixture. Make sure to hit the extra dry spots really well. Don’t be afraid to completely cover your foot in the scrub mixture.

Step 10.) After scrubbing your foot, place it back into the tub filled with water and apple cider vinegar and then repeat with the opposite foot.

Voilah! Your feet are ultra smooth! For an extra kick of moisture, rub a generous amount of lotion onto your feet and put some thick socks on overnight.

Don’t stop at your feet! This scrub can be used on your entire body, especially your hands.

I also use it frequently as a lip scrub. Simple scrub the dry/dead skin off of your lips, wipe your lips off with a wet towel/facecloth, and apply something like Vaseline to your lips to seal in the moisture.

Let me know what you think 🙂
